Ron Madow’s Society Jazz
Cooking With Hot Jazz

Venues.
Ron Madow's Society Jazz has been pleasing audiences of all ages for over five years. Our sound features music from the early 1920's and 1930's played in a very traditional (Trad) style. The rhythms are hard and driving, yet often-times sweet and soulful. Unlike “Swing” or “Dixieland”, Trad is defined with a strong two or four beat rhythm set behind a melody that is free to explore and expand. Naturally, as a Quad Cities band, we feature several Bix
Beiderbecke songs, along with other great songwriters and musicians of the period.
The most common configuration for the band is a quintet consisting of clarinet, cornet, guitar drums, and string bass. At several smaller venues we can be heard as a trio or quartet, but can also expand up to an eight piece ensemble. We are an “Acoustic” band and use minimal, if any amplification. Any way you slice it, our sound is unique, hot, and pure society class!
